The Town Council is holding a Special Meeting this Monday June 9th at Town Hall at 7:30PM. The provisions of latest Building Code Chapter 7A contains regulations which will apply to new buildings in areas designated as Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zones. These regulations are intended to limit the ignition potential of new buildings by resisting the intrusion of flames and burning embers projected by vegetation fire. The designation by the Town Council of those areas subject to Chapter 7A is a critical step in the implementation of these new regulations.

You can check to see which areas as currently proposed for inclusion by accessing the Map (ftp://frap.cdf.ca.gov/fhszlocalmaps/san_mateo/Woodside.pdf) which is available for public review and comment. Council will ultimately need to adopt an ordinance setting the Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zones in the Town of Woodside. Since fire spreads, the determination of this designation has an impact on us all, even those of us not in an included area,. Read the agenda and staff report here.
