Splendiferous Filoli
April 7th, 2009Spring has sprung and nothing signals spring more than flowers. So we just thought we’d let you know that tulips are in full bloom at Filoli. There are tulips everywhere. In particular, the 4000 tulips planted in the Sunken Garden for this years display are a must see. In addition there are already Weeping Japanese Cherries, Daffodils, Azaleas, Wisteria and more.
Mother’s day will be here before you know it. Filoli will be celebrating Mother’s Day weekend with “a Kaleidoscope of Flowers” Thursday, May 7 through Sunday, May 10, 2009. The Show begins on Thursday evening, May 7, with a reception. Guests are invited to stroll the Gardens at twilight, view the floral arrangements, interact with the designers, and enjoy musical entertainment while wine and hors d’oeuvres are served. You can celebrate Mother’s Day weekend at Filoli with a special tea, boxed lunch, or Mother’s Day champagne brunch. There are many more events and information is readily available here.
In case you have wondered, the name, Filoli, is an acronym formed from the verbs: “FIght for a just cause, LOve your fellow man, and LIve a good life.” Purists insist that it be pronounced with a long “I”—‘Fighloli’ but most COWs pronounce it with the short “I”. However you you say it, we are mighty proud to have this special place as part of our COWmunity.
